In German windows versions "My Computer" was translated with "Arbeitsplatz" which means place of work
- yorwba 9y agoAs opposed to "Desktop" which was left untranslated. Ubuntu translates it as "Schreibtisch", which my mother found pretty confusing, maybe because she doesn't speak English.
- denisw 9y agoUbuntu has probably emulated macOS here, which translates the Desktop as "Schreibtisch" as well.
- dfox 9y agoSimilarly, in czech localization it was "Tento pocitac" ("This computer") since Windows 95. Windows 7 uses just "Pocitac" and I honestly have no idea what is the translation used in 10.
