Really cool (full disclosure - my advisor was Bertsimas's PhD advisor)! School bus optimization is slightly different from UPS/DHL/last mile logistics routing because you only solve the problem once or twice a semester and make small changes as and when kids change schools etc. From a business point of view there really aren't any off the shelf products that do this well plus its tough selling to school districts.
