Microbursts (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microburst https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microburst) can be very dangerous. I'm not sure if these would be correctly classified as "turbulence", though.
- peteretep 9y agoI was on a wide body a few months ago and we had a very sudden burst of pretty intense turbulence -- we'd apparently hit the wake of an A380
