One of the great lessons I've learned in life is that you can't change other people. Indeed in this case it seems like the "old boys club" in software development is the result of the gender balance not the cause. I can't think of a single male dominated profession that isn't seen in that light. If we're serious about fixing the ratio it needs to be done with policy and young, well before students graduate highschool.
