I can echo almost all of these sentiments. (I also bought a MBP this last refresh, and am also a programmer.) I was a little worried about not having a physical esc key, but it's been totally fine. I don't even notice it's gone, and I use the escape key a lot. That said, I don't love the Touch Bar, but for the most part it's fine. I still don't think to use it most of the time, but am slowly starting to remember it's there. (I use an older MBP at work, so I only use my TouchBar MPB on weekends.) I also agree that the new keyboard is great. I don't love the oversized trackpad, but I think my main issue is going back and forth between the new one and the one on my 2014 MBP.
