Always thought moving fast and breaking things was the least intelligent approach to any problem..except when people can only learn things the hard way and are in too much of a
hurry to do anything but cash the check.
- rockostrich 9y agoStart-ups move fast to see what works and what doesn't (from a product perspective, not technology). Breaking things is just a byproduct of moving fast. Once you realize something is worth the effort, e.g. a new feature is loved by everyone but it's got a few problems and might be breaking things, then you slow down and do it right. If you did it right to begin with, you might've spent a ton of money and engineering hours on a feature that users didn't even want.
- fundabulousrIII 9y agoI see your point. What I was trying to get across is that there is a method to a sustainable model and then there is everything else that just makes money for a while. Nothing wrong with the latter except my personal opinion of it.
- Grustaf 9y agoIt's sort of how evolution works. It might not be intelligent but it can be a very successful strategy.
- fundabulousrIII 9y agoExcellent analogy except the losers die.
- Grustaf 9y agoYes but the unit is not company, it's strategy/experiment.
- fundabulousrIII 9y agoWell that depends, doesn't it?
