The whole thing reeks of "bigotry of low expectations". I didn't know affirmative action was a thing. Being a minority who entered/graduated University, I hate to think that I could possibly have been admitted into University because of my status as an ethnic minority rather than because I was actually qualified.

This is a very real issue. Some minority admits to elite schools experience imposter syndrome. It doesn't help that some folks make rude comments reinforcing that idea. Dirty little secret... a wide range of people experience imposter syndrome at elite schools.

  I don't think I had much of an imposter syndrome at the time. I knew I was surrounded by many people who are way more smarter than me but I still thought I was well above average; at least for the first couple of years.
