  Note that it was just as cool to do that for Gen X when they were at a similar age, and even moreso for the Boomers in their time (who, to be fair, had much more of a highly visible subgroup making a flamboyant show of rejecting their elder's values than either of the following generations did.) That's just the eternal ways of the world.
