Digital natives? Are people still using this term?
So the people who invented the Internet and most of modern technology are called "digital immigrants"? How can one take lazy journalists who still use these terms seriously?
- wolfgke 9y ago> So the people who invented the Internet and most of modern technology are called "digital immigrants"? This was a (brilliant) minority of this generation.
- khedoros1 9y ago> So the people who invented the Internet and most of modern technology are called "digital immigrants"? Consider if a community designed a new language. By definition, no one in the community would be a native speaker. Couples start having children and teaching the children that language. Those children will be the first native speakers. The best of the non-natives would still have more technical knowledge of how the language works than the average native speaker. That's the situation that we're looking at here.
- flukus 9y agoThink of the earliest colonists everywhere, they created their colonies but they weren't native to it. Their children were native to the colony though.
