The reason is that they broke it down by MSA: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Metropolitan_Statistical_Areas https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Metropolitan_Statistic.... Palo Alto and nearby cities are in the San Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara MSA.
- jeremynixon 9y agoAh, thank you. When they go on to infer that fast growing jobs come out of the hubs, their adherence to that standard distorts the numbers downwards. Reader beware.
