I'd be interested to see your personal news aggregator – I too made myself a personally customised one – https://readspike.com https://readspike.com – anyone else make their own after the death of Google reader?
- Yetanfou 9y agoThe software is nothing special and can be installed by anyone: Nextcloud [1] running the News [2] app. The virtue of the thing is that you can point it at any RSS/Atom feed you want and have the result appear in categories of your choice. This is not limited to 'news' of course, any type of feed will work. I use it to keep up with activities on selected Github repos, commits show up as news items in the feed. There are accompanying apps for mobile devices but I tend to rely on the web interface even when using something mobile. - felixthehat 9y agoOh that is nice, I'll try testing that out locally, thanks!
- kawera 9y agoSuper neat! Is it open source?
- Yetanfou 9y agoSure it is: https://github.com/nextcloud https://github.com/nextcloud Nextcloud is a fork of Owncloud: https://github.com/owncloud https://github.com/owncloud
- felixthehat 9y agoThanks! I thought about it, but I'm ashamed of how poor my coding is :) It's really just a php script that converts rss/json feeds to html
- nikivi 9y agoIs it possible to rearrange the feeds?
- felixthehat 9y agoNo, there's not much functionality, just a site for my own amusement really. One day I'd like to, and also make it so you can add your own feeds
- roryisok 9y agoI wrote one a simple php script to pull in some rss feeds and present. It also loads a link by get request and strips out ads and other unwanted junk. Nothing special, but it does the job
