- zapperdapper 9y agoI don't think future governments will back down on this. They see the writing on the wall all too clearly. I think people just won't want to buy ICE cars long before 2040 - they are simply more expensive to run than EVs. I also think if ride hailing, ZipCar alternatives and so on increase in availability, fewer people will actually want to own a car anyway. Personally, I can't wait to not own a car, it's been one of my life ambitions for a few years now. I am very much looking forward to that day!
