I can relate to this. I'm in my 8th year and $0 so far. I only did 3 projects though. All based on open source work. My first took 3 years. Second one took 1 year and I spun it off into my current one which I've been working on for almost 4 years. Things have started to look up recently. For years it looked like everything was going against me: Competitors kept coming up with products that got tons of attention and were shaking things up towards a different path. But now I feel that something changed and some opportunities are appearing all at once
