- peter_retief 9y agoI know, it is a concern, the hardware is as open and there is work afoot to release a completely open source pi, not sure how far they have got
- jononor 9y agoNo the hardware is not open, there are no released schematics or layouts, and you cannot buy the chips from Broadcom.
- comeonnowreally 9y agoI'd be very surprised if Broadcom released the source code for their firmware. It would probably have to be a complete rewrite from reverse engineered specifications, like the original IBM PC BIOS was cloned. Except a lot more difficult as these firmwares are comparatively huge.
