There was a proposal on Twitter a while ago (I'll repost if I find it) wherein snooping in enterprise was permitted but it was done in a fashion where both endpoints were alerted that the traffic was being sniffed. Much as I would rather have e2e in general, I thought this might be a possible compromise.
