The problem is the notion of same pay for "the same job". In order to judge if to people deserve the same pay you have to know if they are really doing the same job, have the same knowledge, and produce an equal economic output for the company. This might be easy if you are making widgets and the only important outputs are units produced and defect rates but near impossible with more complicated work that is highly variable or more cognitive in nature. Simply knowing pay and job title is not enough.
