When I was a teenager, I crashed a MUD hosting server by forking a process in a loop. The admin kindly explained ulimit to me. (This was before VPSes were a thing). I was so mortified, I guess it stuck well enough that that's the worst thing off the top of my head. But it seems like I'm an underachiever based on this thread.
