I had a similar experience. I've had a few different jobs but found them all basically unfulfilling in the end. I cut down my monthly expenses drastically and now only work a maximum of three months per year - I do my old job on a contract basis. The other nine months of the year I work on my relationship, travel and write (but not for money). I've never been happier and don't miss full time work at all!
