- DrScump 9y agoThe original 1960s film "True Grit" (the John Wayne / Kim Darby / Glen Campbell classic) has several occurrences of the word "'coon" (short for raccoon), using it only in the context of the small game animals. When the cable channel "Movies!" shows it, they edit out the term with asterisks in their closed captioning.
