RIP. Is VLC the best alternative at the moment?
- seriouspat 9y agompv I'd say. RIP MPC-HC though.
- tuxxy 9y agoI really like mpv. https://mpv.io/ https://mpv.io/
- agumonkey 9y agoMe too. VLC had and has many many qualities, but mpv is so slick and versatile while VLC is a bit of a kitchen sink. I even use mpv on windows...
- erikbye 9y agoTry SMPlayer.
- bberrry 9y agoGoing to second SMPlayer. My daily driver over VLC easily.

- erikbye 9y agoI haven't had a single problem with it. And at least recommend another front end then, because straight MPV is a horrible user experience.

- mkishi 9y agoI really like PotPlayer. mpv is great but requires a bit of tinkering, whereas PP comes with some ready to go defaults and as much flexibility as MPC-HC.
- moogly 9y agoSeconding PotPlayer.
- LeoNatan25 9y agoOn Windows, I have not found a better alternative than PotPlayer.
- lostmsu 9y agoIn my practice VLC had troubles with many HEVC files.
