I used Adobe Lightroom in the past. With a folder structure [YEAR]/[YEAR]-[MONTH]-[DAY] Event/[YEAR][MONTH][DAY]_name.png. All on a Synology NAS (with RAID) and backup to external HDD. Images from my iPhone are synced up to iCloud, and I never come around to put them in the structure above.
