I've recently come to believe the same thing, always shrugged off the weird consumer IoT stuff because of the marketing, security issues and uselessness of a lot of the projected visions of the IoT future. I lose confidence in my rejection of IoT when I think of smart energy grids and cooperating sensor-networks. It's a useful and welcome addition to our future.
