Sorry to hear about what you had to go through. Hope he is doing well now. Of course, trial and error makes sense when you don't have any other option.

He is fine now (knocking wood), though he never quite regained his appetite so is still underweight, and his bladder is still not totally back to normal after being damaged by the urinary blockage (which was the root of our issues), resulting in massive pees. We also do not know how the medication he had to take for a year after that month to keep his bladder working until it regained enough function will affect him down the line. We have to have regular in-depth checkups to make sure kidney and other organ function doesn't deteriorate. So he will never be 100% "normal", but nevertheless he is now a happy cat who's enjoying life and we are grateful for every day we have with him.
