I would buy a wireless audio speaker that uses NFC instead of bluetooth to connect to Android or iPhone. You would have to set the phone on the device but that would be a small price to pay if the connection were more reliable.
- splitbrain 9y agothat's not how NFC works.
- hnal943 9y agoDo you really have problems with Bluetooth connection when the speaker is touching the phone?
- jonbarker 9y agoI am in the Apple ecosystem and the "pair" process is incredibly slow, even when it works. I'm arguing about seconds here but it's usually like 15 seconds.
- c22 9y agoI would love if all my Bluetooth devices used nfc to set up pairing.
- jonbarker 9y agoYes, maybe pairing could be accelerated with NFC, then switching to bluetooth for extended range and bandwidth.
- metaphorm 9y agoNFC has an effective range of about 20cm, bluetooth (and wifi) up to about 50m. these have completely different use cases, and if you're limiting yourself to 20cm range for a semi-permanent fixture (like speakers) you might as well run a wire.
- borplk 9y agoNFC has distance and bandwidth limits.
