This is a similar idea to what nbs uses internally: https://github.com/attic-labs/noms/tree/master/go/nbs https://github.com/attic-labs/noms/tree/master/go/nbs ... but the idea is developed to support fast mutations as well as other related datastructures (sets, lists, etc).
