His top advisor complained that Silicon Valley had too many Chinese CEO's, so this isn't surprising. It'll be interesting to see which country takes our place as the 'brain magnet.'
>“When two-thirds or three-quarters of the CEOs in Silicon Valley are from South Asia or from Asia, I think...” Bannon said. “A country is more than an economy. We’re a civic society.”

- sortaThrowaway 9y agoDo you think China Leadership would be happy if 2/3rds of High Tech Chinese firms were lead by non Chinese? (edit: I know the 2/3rd isn't accurate. The point which was clearly not well presented is there is an actual debate to be had on what the optimal benefit is for foreigner vs natives when it comes to immigration. No one cares if foreigners make up some % of tech firms. Might care if the % got too high. What is to high is debatable. This goes for any country)
- manigandham 9y agoWho cares what the percentage is? As long as they're decent, law-abiding, tax-paying entrepreneurs, what is the problem?
- gdilla 9y agorace. race is the problem. Where've you been?
- manigandham 9y agoI'm asking why race is such a problem... Did you misunderstand or are you saying race is a problem for you?
- gdilla 9y agowhy? Cuz they're racist. Did you expect a logical reason?
- owebmaster 9y agoBut this is not true, is it?
- tptacek 9y agoNo, it's a racist lie, told in order to agitate a low-information base of vaguely ethno-nationalist voters.
- owebmaster 9y agoYeah but in this case it seems a number so out of reality that from my point of view it is funny (but I can't laugh about it, here in Brazil people think that the ex-president Lula is the hidden owner of the biggest meat company of the world).
- tptacek 9y agoIt's out of reality from your point of view. What makes it starkly un-funny is the fact that for the true audience for that statement, it's not out of reality at all.
- mynameishere 9y agoThat comment was so far off base it was probably intentionally designed to be wrong, but other statistical anomalies aren't lies. Your typically tedious rebuttal won't work for any of those.
- subway 9y agoDo you think China's leadership is one we want emulated in the US?

- k_lander 9y agoexcept that everyone except native americans are immigrants?
- jaredklewis 9y agoIf leaders of any country are for some reason not happy that many of their nation's tech companies are founded by immigrants, they should probably be unhappy with themselves for not doing more to allow nationals to acquire the necessary skills and education to succeed. Keeping out foreign talent doesn't make your own people any smarter.
