I'm not really convinced by this article or by the comments. You can do exploratory code and TDD at the same time - you just have to write down what you expect the code to do first. These criticisms of TDD are very weak because they don't spell out an alternative - every critic's vision of proper testing is different - and will respond "that's not what I meant".
