How did Docker jump from 1.x to 17 so quickly? Anybody have a link to this and the reasoning? Is it similar to what Elastic did w/ their jump from 2.x to 5.x?

How did Docker jump from 1.x to 17 so quickly? Anybody have a link to this and the reasoning? Is it similar to what Elastic did w/ their jump from 2.x to 5.x?

- rckrd 9y agoDocker introduced a new versioning scheme when they announced Docker Community Edition and Docker Enterprise Edition > For consistency, we are also renaming the free Docker products to Docker Community Edition (CE) and adopting a new lifecycle and time-based versioning scheme for both Docker EE and CE. - dagw 9y agoDocker recently switched to a date based versioning system. So 17.06 is the docker released in June 2017
