Besides the fact that your story resonates with a few of mine, lets be friends; I think there is a lot of mileage in assessing a few facts: the sheer size of elephants, their defenseless young, the complexity of their social relationships, and their general relationship with would-be predators. I'd suggest that piloting these factors (reducing risk, advancing social relationships, developing the behaviour of their young) requires a wide variety of exacting performance in a complex environment.
