They tried that in Victorian England (workhouses) and we no quite rightly regard it as utterly barbaric.
- rsj_hn 9y agoWorkhouses were for debtors who could not repay debts. That's a very different situation from say, Reagan kicking the mentally ill out of institutions and onto the streets of our cities.
