The Man Who Knew Infinity: A Life of the Genius Ramanujan [pdf]
- uptownfunk 9y agoSuch a brilliant individual whose story is so wonderfully told in this book.. I read it cover to cover in a couple days. As an Indian (for whom Ramanujan is our pride and joy) I feel the author did an excellent job of providing an ethno-cultural context of Ramanujan's life. I remember as a boy seeing the PBS documentary on his life, and always feeling some degree of sadness over his tragic demise.. how much of the inner engineering of our reality could he have continued to probe with his brilliant mind.
- lowglow 9y agoSomething I had questions about and I don't know where to start looking is how we (humans) optimize to find equations that make sense. Where does the first intuitive leap begin, and how do we reason models of mathematics that make sense and converge on a "solution?" How, when, and where does the invention take place?
- jonnybgood 9y agoRead 'Proofs and Refutations, The Logic of Mathematical Discovery' by Imre Lakatos. That may provide a good answer to your question.
