Basing your entire argument off the middle point of the top sellers list is pretty silly. It's a long tail even for "top sellers" where the top 50 sell more than the rest combined. Yes it's a tough market, but averages lie and if your game is actually quality your odds of making at least a decent return (or break even) are much better than most of the shovelware that inhabits the lesser traveled areas of Steam.
