I did something similar with my daughter's fiancé, but I didn't really teach him how to code. I taught him how to learn how to code and he picked it up fast and was very productive. Unfortunately my daughter broke off the engagement so we didn't get a chance to work on much together but he went on to a career in coding so it worked out pretty good just the same.
