If you don't tip, drivers may give a lower rating. I have seen such comments in /r/uberdrivers. I recently paid a good amount as tip in the hope of increasing my rating after I found my score was 4.7. Other than not tipping, I haven't done anything to be a bad passenger as far as I know.
