This is just a proposal, from the European Parliament's Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice, and Home Affairs.
It's not a law, and (unfortunately) I can't imagine the proposal will get passed in it's current form.
- uhnuhnuhn 9y agoAgreed. As the article states, this would have to be approved by the European Council, i.e. all EU heads of state. They may not have such a positive view of encryption and privacy.
- mpeg 9y agoThe UK will never approve that, so that's at least 2 years before it can even pass let alone be implemented.
