An HN commenter pointed me towards this bookmarklet recently, which removes such 'dickbars'. I find it invaluable, especially as someone who presses Space to page through an article. (I've modified it to ensure that the page body is always scrollable, which is something that goes hand-in-hand with dickbars.) javascript:(function () {document.body.style['overflow-y']=document.body.style['overflow']='auto'; var i,elements=document.querySelectorAll('body *'); for (i=0;i<elements.length;i++) {if (getComputedStyle(elements[i]).position==='fixed' || getComputedStyle(elements[i]).position==='sticky') {elements[i].parentNode.removeChild(elements[i]);}}})();
