While I think there may be something to that pov regarding "whiteness", I think that pov about masculinity is quite wrong. "Masculinity" is an appropriate idea, and masculinity is not a bad thing. There may be some cultural associations with masculinity which don't need to be there, but I maintain that there is a sense of "masculinity" which ought to be recognized as appropriate in some circumstances (primarily among people who are male)
