IMO that was one bad decision in CS1 that they allowed mixed whitespace to compile in the first place. CoffeScipt 2 (which is ES6 compliant) doesn't allow you to compile/transpile any code with mixed indentation. BTW in Atom, I've successfully used atom-beautify with coffee-fmt and coffee-formatter to reformat very bad code with no errors
