There are children being born right now in Cambodian garbage dumps, in North Korean gulags, with heroin addictions that immediately turn into withdrawal, to religious nuts that will knowingly give birth to horribly sick children that will suffer for days or weeks without treatment and then die because it's God's will. Yet it will continue happening, and will happen on Mars as well, because humans are -- quite literally -- born to procreate more humans. Children are also supremely adaptable and some (but not all) will prosper even in the toughest circumstances.
