Well, yes. I learnt memory management and can C/C++ like a boss, but for many types of applications, doing it yourself is a bad idea. I've learnt and used low async primitives for years, but for many (most?) applications, as long as you know what you are doing (which i guess is your point), using them directly isn't a very good idea anymore.
