Event driven programming is actually very close to actor model conceptually, just slightly less powerful. And basically switching to actor model is the only path forward for someone coming from events. But yeah, people need to stop confusing actor model with shared-memory multithreading. Threads/green-thread/goroutines are all the same and the criticism applies to all of them. They share nothing with actor model (pun intended).
