Best way to quickly experience the Bay? That would be the 1:1000 horizontal scale, 1:100 vertical and temporal scale model[1][2] just across the Golden Gate in Sausalito, built by the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers. Ok, maybe not the most interesting place to visit in SF, but it's an amazing feat of engineering history built about 20 years before Silicon Valley existed. As for food, SF is full of great places to eat of all types. If you want roast meat at very reasonable prices (for SF), I've always liked Tommy's Joynt[3].
