Ask HN: Closing deals at tech conferences?

Hi HN-ers, We're about to attend our first hotel tech conference but we're not going to be exhibiting there (too expensive at this point). We're B2B and the companies we deal with are usually larger in size but less sophisticated in technology. Just wondering if anyone has any experience building networks or even managing to close deals at these conferences? What was your experience like and how did you approach folks?
