I don't see how you can ask people to self report in a circumstance like this and get anything but cognitively assonant responses. If you are hemmed in by poverty, location, and financial obligations, you are going to convince yourself that your circumstances are acceptable to you, whether or not that is actually the case, or you won't survive in it, and be around to make a self-report.
