Why would a firefly that sync survive more than one which doesn't?
- kyberias 9y agoGood question. My initial guess: it is easier for predators to detect/catch fireflies that blink out of sync with the rest of the flock. If all blink in perfect synch, it's just a big flash of light to the predators.
- quadcore 9y agoOne guess is that it's easier to be part of a group that way, and then easier to reproduce.
