I would love to spin up a node pool to compare but it seems unavailable: $ gcloud container node-pools create skylake --cluster montana --image-type gci --machine-type n1-standard-4 --zone us-central1-b --min-cpu-platform "Intel Skylake" ERROR: (gcloud.container.node-pools.create) unrecognized arguments: --min-cpu-platform Intel Skylake

I cant use skylake using the console.cloud.google.com website either.

Sadly, GKE wraps GCE in a fairly manual manner. For each instance feature, they have to decide if and how they want to reflect that. I'll file a bug though!
