It seems you don't get paid really. Why on earth would anyone do it?? I'd want a fat wedge of notes, or I would rather spend the preparation time outdoors or watching paint dry.
- izacus 9y agoBecause it's fun. Because it feels good to talk about your work with several (hundred) people. Even if you only care about hoarding money, conference talks easily add a multiplier to your future income.
- wainstead 9y agoAnd like teaching, nothing immerses you in a subject like having to give a talk on it.
