I never understood the "volatility criticism" of the value of Bitcoin. It'd be remarkable if Bitcoin attained a very high value without short-to-medium term volatility. Realized volatility is not an intrinsic property to the technology or design itself, but rather a reflection of current aspects of the marketplace which can improve over time. (i.e. robust and trusted exchanges, well-capitalized market-makers, more diverse attempts at valuation, less emotional market participants, etc.)
