Have you considered speaking with 'consultants' rather than formal advisers? I often advise my friends on web usability, UI, and their online strategy. I don't charge a fee and love giving out advice and answering their questions. Any time they e-mail, I'm there to answer, but I don't consider it a traditional 'mentor' relationship.
