I don't think it would make sense to have a single equal UBI for the whole world - Not initially at least. To a poor person in Africa, 16K per year would be like winning the lottery - This is not the case for someone living in a developed country. We should take into account that poverty is relative. UBI is not about making everyone equal (not yet at least), initially it's about giving everyone the freedom to do what they really want.
